| I
lived in Shanghai from 1999 to 2000 and then moved back
here fro Beijing in June 2005. Pictures of
my current apartment can be seen here. It was the first city I lived in when I moved to mainland China from Hong Kong and although I was only here for one year, I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent here. The Bund is where you will find a selection of western style buildings which give away Shanghai's colonial past. It is worth a visit at night as well as during the day. Xintiandi is a relatively new development of cafes and bars as well as shops and a movie theatre and draws crowds of tourists, expatriates and locals alike, especially at the weekends. Also worth a visit is the Jin Mao building across the river in Pudong. There you will find the Grand Hyatt, which has its lobby on the 54th floor and the rooms go all the way up to the 88th floor - spectacular! |
