Entertainment
  • Capital Radio - When I am feeling homesick I check in to Capital FM where I can listen to London's favourite radio station live, even from China.  BBC Radio can also be accessed online for those of you who don't want to limit yourself to the London area.

  • And if you like music, don't forget to try iTunes which is a great piece of software that helps you to create MP3 files from your CDs and burn your own compilations in either MP3 format or standard audio format.  You can also create playlists and play your favourite tracks directly on your computer.

  • Rotten Tomatoes is a great site for movie lovers.  Read reviews of movies, both old and new.  If you are interested in movies, you may also be interested to view my top ten list of favourite movies (coming soon).

  • Another good site for film fans is Guardian Film Unlimited with news and reviews.

  News & Media
  • SCMP - The South China Morning Post is Hong Kong's leading English language newspaper and I find its website a useful resource for keeping up with events in the Asia Pacific region.  You do need a subscription to access all areas, but I find that it's a small price to pay, especially while living in mainland China where there is a shortage of impartial news in English language.

  • Guardian Unlimited - An excellent website for one of the UK's most popular newspapers and unlike The Times, it does not charge to access its services from China.

  • For those who prefer a lighter read, there's also The Sun and The Daily Mirror, two of the UK's popular tabloid papers.

Photography
  • Photo Net is a useful resource for all things photographic.  You can read tutorials which will help you to improve your technique, check out equipment reviews and prices and even order that new lens you have been saving up for.
  • Digital Photography Review is an excellent site if you prefer your photography in digital format.  You will find very comprehensive product reviews of all the latest digital cameras and accessories, sample images, as well as discussion forums and news items.

  • If you like photography then Flickr is the coolest site where you can upload your pictures and get comments from others as well as create "sets" of your best pictures and see pictures of other friends and contacts.  It's now part of Yahoo too.
Search Engines
  • Someone recently asked me where Hyderabad is.  These days you don't need to ask, just get online and within seconds you can find all the information you need.  I use Google, but there are many others out there too, including of course, Yahoo!.  (And if you did not know, Hyderabad is the state capital of Andhra Pradesh in India.)
Web Mail
  • Yahoo Mail - Yahoo is my preferred web-based e-mail provider, offering generous disk space compared with the competition and in my opinion, a much more user-friendly interface. I also use their premium services which allows me to receive mail from my other accounts and to send mail from any of my other accounts using the Yahoo site.  And of course, with premium services, there are no annoying Yahoo Mail footers at the end of each message.
Web Hosting
  • Acenet provides low cost, efficient web hosting services from $3.95 per month.  This site is hosted by Acenet.

  • Network Solutions is the place to go to register and renew your domain name.  I think they will also host your site although this is probably not the cheapest provider.
